Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf

I have left my heart
On the mountaintop
To take in sunrises
                  sunsets
And to sing of You

In the valley
Nothing stops
Where we have each other
For however long time allows

No matter what
I love you.

The Journey

Puzzle pieces pressed
Streets
Cobblestone

Look up
Lean back
Drift out a bit more
Water's edge
Buoyant

Surrounds me
Until they fit
I throw them up
to fertilize

Pound in hopes
Recovery hits the pavement
Demon wars

Hurts my feet

Empty
Feeling back and forth
It was difficult finding rocks

Healed pathway
Footstep composer
Treaded symphony
Crashing silent

Arise.

Cardboard Boxes

Open them up empty,
Fill them with time

Decide what goes where
Move them onto garage shelves
Or to the Salvation Army

Tears fall
Stuffed animals, books, papers written
Shall we keep that blanket?
I remember when.....
...a sigh...a heartbeat...
Knowing
To go onward

Do we leave this past on our heartshelves?

Dreams
Clouds and rain
Mixed together
New dawns

These cardboard boxes
I do not crush.
Open them up empty
Fill them with time.
Woven into heart.

Calling

Scrabble
Scrambling
Shall I edit?
The fastest lane
Is not enough

One chip with an "a"
Adding on "ing"
The slow lane
Speeds up

Calling a message
No one is home
Just to see how you are

The Holiday Without You

First Christmas without
you
Brings present memories
Growing up in a big family
Giftwrap like fallen leaves
Burns brightly in a fireplace bonfire
On Linden Avenue

You were always there
Stories, hugs, crowded cozy couches
Security.

I miss you
I miss your growl
As you nestle your nose in your wife's hair
And snuggle
I miss your appetite
For whatever is on the table
Your hunger and laughter

Holidays
Are nothing to complain about
though harder than expected
This year.
First without you Christmas

The grass is growing where you rest
But I cannot bear to see that quite yet.

Doug and Erica Get Married Today

His voice
echoing
Step by step
Note by note
Is a staircase of magic
While his bride's
Smile beckons joy
Fully

His heart, a traveling pathway
Finding self completely
with her spark
Igniting a room-filled
rose garden
Both, a beautiful dance

Across the horizon
stars and lights and
water shimmer
efforts evaporate

Let me hold you
In my arms and sing
I love you
I choose you
Forever

Pies from L.A.

Banana Cream
Bite o Boysenberry
Chocolately divine
Pumpkin scrumpled with cream
Whipped
All arrived in due time
With a big smile
With Bob in stride

Texas Hold-Em
Cribbage...whatelse?
And a kayak ride on the
daunting turbulent sea
Harbor safety and naming yachts
Keeping warm on the way home
with the heat on high

A good day.
